four members of one family. another driver reported this accident around 9 p.m. last night and police are still working to find out exactly what happened. but right now they are not sure if speed was a factor, if alcohol was involved or any other foul play was involved. the road was closed for hours. the family was traveling in an electric car that kept reigniting while investigators were working to clear the scene. the car even caught fire again on the tow truck. police have not confirmed the model of the car as the accident continues to be investigated. the focus now is the family of four and those who knew them. police say the children involved in the accident were elementary and middle school aged. the pleasanton unified school district said that the kids involved were students at their schools. we heard from a district spokesperson moments after he visited one of the school sites. >> it's somber. i think whenever anything like this happens and it impacts the entire family, it's tragic. i don't know how else to put it, the district said.
4:01 pm
>> it's going to provide extra counseling and support resources through at least tomorrow. >> we want to do everything that we can to support them. >> people who knew the family but did not want to speak on camera, have been coming to the scene throughout the day. now back out here live. the road reopened this morning at 720. that is more than ten hours after the crash happened because like we said, investigators had a difficult time clearing the scene. now pleasanton pd are waiting to release the identity of the family members because they're waiting to get in touch with next of kin. but we've seen just a lot of people coming through here now as they're finding out the news, looking at the scene, asking a lot of questions because it's just so heartbreaking. what happened right here. live in pleasanton. zach fuentes, abc seven news. heartbreaking. >> zach and i can imagine the kids friends are going to need so much support in the weeks to come. thank you. a family of four was killed in a car crash just in san francisco last month . they were going to the zoo waiting at a bus stop on west portal avenue when a speeding car ran into them. mom dad,

>> it's just staggering to me how big a deal this has become, larry, this nfl draft, it's almost as big as the super bowl itself. what are you looking for today? well, one of the things that i was struck by, just looking at the espn coverage is that detroit is filled with hundreds of thousands of fans. >> it's incredibly it used to be in new york every year, same old thing, same old things, same old thing. then they started moving the venue around. and so it's been in chicago, and detroit just looks fantastic. it's unbelievable. so you have that as far as the niners are concerned, they have ten picks in this draft. their first selection would be number 31. that's at the back end of round one. and a question of whether they keep brandon aiyuk who i think they should keep him because the super bowl window is, you know, shrinking and shrinking. you got to win this coming season before you have to pay brock purdy. >> so all right. sounds good. so detroit venice detroit venice i mean, venice, italy is the first and only city in the world to charge visitors an entrance fee. and it started today. the fee is ■k75. that's about $5.36 in american money. you register online, pay, and get a qr code that you can then show inspectors if you're caught
4:43 pm
without one, the fine could be ■k7300. the city says it's tryig to strike a balance between the needs of residents and the needs of visitors. the ■k75 fee is ony for day trippers. if you have a hotel reservation, you are exempt. what do you guys think about that? >> well, i can tell you the last two times i've been in italy and venice particularly, it's a mob scene. they're almost overwhelmed. after the pandemic, just overwhelmed with visitors. so i can see i almost got the sense last time last summer when my wife and i were there, that that residents are getting really a little irritated. it's so i think they're trying to do something to mitigate that. >> venice is one of my favorite places in the world that we've visited, and this was about 20 years ago, and i can understand why they want to charge. i mean, look, if it's a popular destination, if you just make it easy on people to charge the ■k5 and maybe it'll be okay. >> yeah. you just can't believe how many people are there now. >> yeah. so, dan, to be clear,
4:44 pm
you'd rather be in detroit than with, you know, there's more room to move around freely than in venice if they're not charging a fee. >> i mean, sure. all right. well, the michelin guide is out with its list of top hotels. the ones that earned three keys in its rankings. it's comparable to restaurants with michelin stars, seven california hotels made the list. four of them are in the bay area. nearly all are in the napa area. in wine country, there's the auberge du soleil and rutherford napa valley, meadowood, napa valley in saint helena, and healdsburg's singlethread in. with only five five rooms that must be tough to get in. the fourth hotel is on the peninsula. it's canyon ranch , woodside in san mateo county. i will say, stanley, i'll start with you on this. we have just as these are examples, but just outstanding hospitality options here in the bay area. >> we do indeed, dan. i mean, we host so many people from all around the world. and i mean, we have so much to offer, which is why everybody comes here to maybe larry, we should charge a

fee. >> yeah, i was just going to say that. >> yeah. so downtown san francisco or to abc seven, which one specifically? >> i don't know. are we going to get a percentage? >> oh no. no. based on my personal experience. okay. >> so you guys know i'm not a fancy person. however, i was lucky enough to have gone to singlethread and not to stay there. i ate there, but i did get to see it. it is an amazing, impeccable place. everything is like art, right? but understated. and then the one on the peninsula canyon ranch. woodside never been, but i looked. they have an amazing looking treehouse and one night is like $1,500. wow. it's a treehouse. >> i just want to hear dan say auberge de soleil. sorry, i just can't even do detroit. >> have the treehouse. yeah. >> good question. >> all right, you guys, it's tasty thursday and this week we're talking chocolate for the craft chocolate experience happening in san francisco this weekend. and the three day festival starts tomorrow at the palace of fine arts. so we're talking sampling, shopping and learning all about chocolate. tickets start at $40 at craft

4:47 pm
chocolate from around the world, or what are the characteristics that make them different? >> i feel like the only way to know that is by tasting those things in front of you. but the short answer is, very much so. so some of the things that you're tasting today, dandelion chocolate, where i'm sitting right now, which is a hometown hero of san francisco, all of our chocolate is made just from, cocoa beans and sugar. but the french broad bar is a classic milk. it's like a brown butter milk chocolate, and so that's the one that has that says like french broad on the, on it. i don't know if you can i put you on hold there for a second because i think i just bit into the ricote, which is san francisco and we've had them. >> oh, the truffle rosemary and olive ganache truffle. that is such a surprising combination and is so good. yeah >> yes. mike kuiti, who's just a genius, and he's been making chocolate in san francisco for so many years. he a rosemary. he's actually going to give a talk at the craft chocolate experience on how he makes his truffle. that includes rosemary,

4:49 pm
friday is just friday night, 7 to 10, and we're doing this pairing event throughout the whole festival. so you get to take, gelati or sake or whiskey, and we have all these samples laid out for you and then go to all these chocolate makers from around the world and pair it with the chocolate samples they give you, so that's going to be friday night from 7 to 10. >> thank you so much. we appreciate it. gregory d'alessandro. the event is craft chocolate experimentxpernce

40 niners. they have ten picks in the upcoming draft, but there's actually more intrigue about what they're going to do with one of their stars, brandon aiyuk wants a new contract. teams have been inquiring about what it would take to acquire brandon aiyuk, and there's some deebo samuel trade rumors out there as well. now, most think it would take a first round pick or more for the niners to have any serious conversations about trading either of their star wide receivers. aiyuk, under contract for one more year at 14 million, believed he wants an extension for about 25 million a year. that puts him in deebo samuel's neighborhood. the niners were in win now mode, especially after they lost the super bowl in agonizing fashion once again. so dealing one of your best players just to save money does not make a lot of sense. >> a couple of years ago, there was a lot of talk about another receiver, deebo, and i said the same thing. but with ba, you know, ba i've communicate on a couple occasions. on many occasions, our wish and our wish is that he's here and a part of uh. the niners for the rest of his career. >> so with the first pick in the
