they are in oakland right now. traffic is moving fine out of downtown oakland heading towards the 980 interchange. very quiet commute so far. we have not seen any real big hot spots. thank you, chopper 5. let's go to the maps to show you a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza where the metering lights were finally turned on just before 6:30. still not backing up too bad though for 6:35 a.m. backed up just to the first overcrossing in some of the busiest lanes. otherwise to the en of the parking lot. 10 minutes wait at the bridge no big problems there. this is our one hotter spot but it's in gilroy, southbound 101 approaching madison avenue. for a while all the southbound lanes of 101 had to be blocked to corral some horses loose in the area. they have re-opened all the lanes, the horses are back, everything is fine. unfortunately, traffic is slow in the area. so members of the kcbs phone force continue to call us and let us know that it is sluggish. for a while traffic was backed up close to a mile and yes, i rea

it was a child chase that began in oakland and went over parts of the bay bridge and ended up in oakland where the driver apparently crashed into this toyota and got out and started running into back yards around here. the car was towed out of here about an hour ago. investigators went through it. there no license plates on it. it could be stolen. now as the driver ran through back yards, police and other agencies have their guns drawn and looking for them. they brought dogs and they are thinking that this could possibly be tied to a series of armed street robberies. seven of them in 24 hours. early this morning, all of them in the lake merit area. the victim in the last incident phoned in a description and at the same time police spotted what they thought was a stolen car. they got on interstate 5. they turned back around. they performed a pit maneuver to try to force the driver to stop. he crashed with two people in the car. they were taken into custody and a man and a woman took about 90 minutes. they tell us to find the driver. they eventually did. they found the driver with the help

oakland for about two weeks now. this never used to happen. now it happens every day. i don't know what's going on. but the oakland airport now is warmer than downtown. i talked to a colleague of mine, we both said that's nutty but it's the way it's been working. napa and santa rosa 52. palo alto 51. 30s in the mountains. 55 santa maria-santa barbara. a lot of cold air and very impressive system there which will play into our weather towards friday. but not today. patchy fog, mainly marin coast north. sunny and warmer today. fog near the coast. if it's not there you can probably see it offshore. 70s and upper 70s and low 80s. looks like a beautiful day for a parade. 70-degree temperatures in downtown san francisco. it will be warm today. fog starts to work its way back. cooling trend starts and really kicks in friday. we cloud it up on saturday. rain on sunday. we also set our clocks back one hour. >>> thank you, steve. ford and general motors are expected to release october sales numbers later today. analysts predic
