virginia. we've we've been sort of looking at in the last week or so, looking at sort of the divides between eastern virginia and western virginia. we've talked about some of the political differences, the the the grievances that western authors have about the lack of funding for internal improve ments, roads, highways. we've obviously talked about the very complex role of slavery in the region as well. and we left off last time looking at the virginia secession convention when delegates decided to pull virginia out of the union in april of 1861 and shortly thereafter, that delegates go back to their home counties, that that's sort of talked about this last time. and they're trying to get support for a statewide referendum on secession. so even though the richmond secession convention has voted to take virginia out of the union, the vote gets to go to the people in late may of 1861. and so delegates go back to their home counties and one of the first things that starts to gain traction is to ho

my family grew up in west virginia largely in virginia. he always had a private wells and i think a lot of folks still do. we've got a million people now and there's the 173,000 residents who depend on the private wells for the drinking water. of the number is actually growing, not shrinking. the language in the drinking water and wastewater infrastructure to allowtu the ea to give the grants to the states for the underground sources of contamination impacting wells for the language except to connect the orders to the regulated water utility which as you know is not always feasible. because they are managed by the states, congress does not expect the epa under the safe drinking water act and having said that, congress did expect the epa helps the states with these contaminated drinking waters. i was going to ask if you would be committed to working with of the committee on the public works to hold address by providing resources to states. >> absolutely commit to that. i'm happy to work more closely with the committee on this moving forward
